Enterprise IT Project Manager

The University of Pittsburgh's Computing Services and Systems Development (CSSD) is seeking an Enterprise IT Project Manager for its Enterprise CRM Division. This position is a senior-level, technical position that reports to the Director of Enterprise Initiatives within CSSD and has responsibility for continuously assessing and coordinating the project management methodology and tools for IT projects.

This position will also provide enterprise IT project management, which includes planning and coordinating all phases of complex University-wide IT project implementations. The incumbent is responsible for assessing IT needs across the University, recommending programs and support models for meeting those needs, and following through to ensure the successful implementation of new or updated services. The individual will build strategic relationships and collaborate with leaders across the University to identify, develop, and deliver successful IT projects.

This position is accountable for the successful implementation of projects on systems to include enterprise-wide, mission-critical systems and related services. Duties include all aspects of project management methodologies including project phases, processes, tools, and providing training and assistance to mentor other project managers. These duties are accomplished by authoritatively establishing clearly defined project objectives and deliverables, identifying and tracking project tasks through completion, identifying issues with the completion of tasks, and quickly resolving those issues in order to keep projects on schedule. It is also expected that this position will ensure that projects stay within all established financial constraints and aid in the development of communications regarding systems and services that are impacted by the project. All enterprise-level projects will include input from other areas of CSSD and units throughout the University via focus groups, information sessions, and surveys.

It is vital that the incumbent understands the University's computing environment and the impact of decisions on production and development systems. This individual must clearly understand and consistently apply the mission, vision, and values of the University and CSSD to all work situations and tasks. In order to successfully meet performance standards, it is critical that the individual maintain a broad view of advancements in technology and proficiency with new technologies.

The incumbent must have excellent professional skills to include the following: exceptional written and verbal communication skills, independent decision making, sound professional judgment, a high-degree of initiative, successfully directing and managing time and resources, the ability to accurately compile budget requirements, successfully define and implement strategic direction, use discretion when dealing with sensitive issues, consistently meet deadlines, and successfully managing stressful situations with composure and professionalism. He/she must accurately interpret, represent, and consistently follow University and departmental IT policies, processes and procedures.

The candidate must possess an advanced degree in CS, IS, or a related field and have at least five years of management experience in an operational area in a complex IT environment. In addition, extensive project management experience or PMP certification is required. The successful candidate must have worked in IT (preferably in higher education) and have a demonstrated track record of achieving stated goals. The ability to handle multiple projects and priorities and consistently meet tight deadlines is essential. Excellent professional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required.
