HIM Systems Coordinator

SUMMARY: The HIM System Coordinator is considered a system support position that provides support, coordination, testing/implementation, for the Director of Health Information Management and the staff involved in the health information management department with special focus on regulations that impact operations, as it relates to HIM Systems (Meditech SCA, EMPI, ROI, Analysis, MU, QT), Athena, data analysis, project management, and other special project. The HIM System Coordinator is responsible for maintaining current and thorough knowledge and understanding of all electronic systems processes with the Health Information Management Department. The HIM System Coordinator will collaborate with other clinical departments, Patient Registration, Physicians, Information Technology and hospital leadership and management. The HIM System Coordinator is responsible for supporting adherence to Cook Children's standards and directives and other regulatory requirements including CMS, the Joint Commission, and HIPAA standards related to HIM. As a HIM System Coordinator this position will collaborate with all Cook Children's Physician Network clinic's to coordinate record management operation/retention providing data analysis, feedback and education. This position is expected to maintain effective professional relationships as appropriate to instruct, share ideas, and implement actions related to Health Information Management Department functions and improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a Bachelor's degree with four (4) years of Health Information Management experience to include two (2) years in computer operations and training in an Electronic Health Record (EHR) required. Prefer process improvement. Must be able to communicate effectively across a wide range of audiences, with excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication and presentation skills. Demonstrates problem solving and critical thinking skills to find solutions to difficult problems. Must be able to manage multiple complex projects at the same time, with conflicting priorities. Must be self-directed and learn quickly with strong attention to detail. Demonstrates ability to train staff in new and changing processes. Must be able to work collaboratively with team members, clinical providers, operational mangers, colleagues, and stakeholders to analyze problems and propose recommended solutions that meet both business and technical needs. Must have expert level clinical and business knowledge regarding data sources and resulting quality and integrity of the electronic medical record.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Electronic Records Management (eRMs) required.
