Californians for All Youth Jobs Corps - One Irvine Workforce Presents: Accounting Technician – Full-time Apprenticeship (Limited Term*)
*This position is full-time, at-will and budgeted for 13 months with the approximate program period of November, 2024-December, 2025.Post-apprenticeship employment opportunities may be available, but are not guaranteed
The One Irvine Workforce Apprenticeship Program is designed to employ and empower the next generation of public servants. In addition to gainful employment, apprentices will participate in innovative trainings, professional development opportunities, and mentorship, all while supporting some of Irvine's most important initiatives.
 
The Accounting Technician plays a pivotal role in delivering quality support performing daily Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and/or Treasury/Cashiering operations. Apprenticeship Eligibility Requirements
This program is funded through the Californians For All, Youth Service Corps grant with specific eligibility requirements, including:
  • Participants must be between 18-30 years old on their first day of service, estimated to be late October-early November, 2024.
  • Priority will be given to Irvine residents who meet at least two of the following:
    • Are unemployed or out of school
    • Are low-income
    • May have difficulty finding employment
    • Are in, or transitioning from foster care
    • Are engaged with the mental health or substance abuse system
    • Are or were justice-involved
    • Have not participated in an AmeriCorps program

Your Impact
  • Assist with daily Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and/or daily Treasury/Cashiering operations.
  • Process, post and pay invoices. Receive or account for fees or disbursements.
  • Act as a liaison between the City and its vendors and customers. Provide information regarding payments and related issues.
  • Provide information to City employees regarding accounts receivable/payable and billing.
  • Perform City cashiering functions, including reconciling citywide revenue activities and preparation of centralized bank deposits.
  • Maintain petty cash accounts. Audit, disburse and prepare reimbursement document for petty cash.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or college coursework in accounting or related field.
  • Two years of accounting, cashiering and/or bookkeeping experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. 
  • May require a valid California driver's license.
