Job Summary

The Department of Physician Assistant Studies (PAS), College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the University of Kentucky is currently accepting applications for a full-time 12-month appointment, tenure-eligible faculty member at rank determined by qualifications in the Special Title Series, to begin employment at the Lexington or Morehead campus on or before July 1, 2025.

Our well-established and nationally respected program offers an entry-level Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies and enrolls 56 students annually on two campuses in Morehead and Lexington, KY. The program is accredited by the ARC-PA. The PA Academic residency began in 2020 with residents training in six hospitals throughout Kentucky in a variety of sub-specialty sessions. This unique program is committed to the transformation of health care delivery through collaboration, innovation, educational excellence and focusing on leadership. Qualified candidates should display evidence of excellence in teaching to meet the program mission in both the didactic and/or clinical components of the PAS curriculum. Participation in scholarly activities is expected and supported, along with university service activities. The approximate allocation of effort will be 55-80% instruction and 10-30% scholarship, with the balance in service and professional development. The successful candidate may also participate in clinical practice (up to 20% of effort) to provide direct evidence-based patient care as a licensed clinician in a clinical setting. 

 

The College of Health Sciences strongly supports the Department and offers educational opportunities at various levels before and after PA school. The primary appointment for this position will be in the PA Master’s program. However, qualified candidates may also have opportunities to teach in the College’s undergraduate programs, PA Academic Residency program, and the interprofessional PhD program in Rehabilitation and Health Sciences. Additionally, PA faculty scholars will receive robust research support to advance their scholarly footprint.

 

Required Qualifications:

·         Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Studies program with a Master’s degree in PA studies or terminal degree in a related medical or nursing field

·         Current national certification and eligibility to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky

·         Demonstrated multicultural understanding and experience interacting with people from all backgrounds

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Minimum of three years clinical experience

·         Prior experience in higher education and/or clinical teaching

·         Involvement in service and scholarship relevant to the field of PAS
