Required Qualifications
Required Education    

Bachelor’s degree or four years of completed college coursework in a related field.

Required Work Experience 

One year of demonstrated work experience in an audio/video related support position.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered    

Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in audio/visual equipment.

Possess a Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) or other A/V Industry recognized certification.

Experience in programming Extron control equipment.

Demonstrate work experience in higher education.

Experience with CODEC based Video Conferencing Systems.

Supervisory and evaluation of employees and contractors experience.


Participate in strategic planning for and replacement of technology enhanced classroom projects, as well as, implementation of new technologies.

Assist in annual readiness and evaluation process of all campus locations with all audio/visual needs.

Troubleshoot and support the audio/visual needs of university faculty, staff, and students; to include a wide array of video and audio installations.

Install and terminate video, audio, cabling, and control systems in an organized manner consistent with industry standards.

Test and evaluate various software applications and resolve workstation conflicts.

Participate in the annual replacement cycle of primary computers for employees.

Research, recommend and assist in purchasing, upgrading, replacing any audio/visual related equipment/devices, implementation of new technologies.

Prepare appropriate documentation for ordering materials and monitor progress from acquisition to completion.

Participate with audio/visual related contractual agreements between vendors and the university.

Coordinate end-user software planning and procurement of all audio/visual and computer related hardware and software, while promoting good licensing practice and educating end-users of software piracy laws.

Strengthen communication within Information Technology Services by developing, editing, collaborating, and documenting audio/visual and computer usage and planning.

Train users in the operation and minor adjustment of audio/visual electronic equipment and systems.

Participate in the asset lifecycle management of hardware and software.

Provide consultation to assist in the design of new audio/visual projects.

Provide distance learning support and troubleshooting, for microphones, control systems, document stations, video/audio equipment, transmission facilities, software, and remote faculty.

Design, procure, install, and support audio/visual electronic equipment and systems, tools and fixtures.

Assist in the administration of the university’s servers from application, and the administration, installation, and maintenance of the University’s infrastructure and related production servers to ensure network availability.

Maintain a parts inventory for repairs, procuring best purchase price when possible. Initiate repair and maintenance billing, when appropriate, establishing charges and ensuring receipt of payment.

Responsibilities / Skills and Abilities

Install, maintain, coordinate, and communicate audio/visual initiatives with appropriate consituencies. Participate in University-wide audio/visual planning and assessment activities. Assist with continuous quality improvement activities and in the promotion of operation efficiencies. Provide audio/visual and computer support services for assigned area(s) with the University community while providing a fresh perspective of support strategies. Assignments will include some computer technician responsibilities and student employee supervision.

Required Physical Abilities   

Ability to lift, move and relocate audio/visual and computer hardware.

Ability to solder for the purposes of terminating A/V cabling and connectors.

Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding or other necessary lift equipment.

Required Skills and Abilities

Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Operate power tools.

Possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Read blue prints and interpret electronic circuitry.
