Digital Content and Strategies Associate

Position Summary:
The Digital Content and Strategies Associate supports Physicians in amplifying the voice and influence of its doctors using digital strategies to forward its mission. The Digital Content and Strategies Associate acts as webmaster and content manager of the Physicians’ website; and builds an active and engaged presence across its digital channels, communications, and fundraising base. The Associate has the ability to strategize and develop content that is engaging across multiple mediums including website, blog, social media, email, video, print, and action alerts, and other platforms.

This is a full-time overtime-exempt position. This position is open to a remote work model for candidates outside New York, or under a hoteling work model (a flexible combination of in-office and work-from-home days) for candidates in New York. The office is located in midtown Manhattan, and relocation assistance is not available at this time.

Reports to: Director, Voice

Position Duties Include:
Communications, development, and storytelling

  • Translates Physicians’ fact-based messaging into a digital strategy that is designed to influence, engage, and motivate change
  • Serves as the editor and primary contributor to Physicians’ digital presence, including the website, blog, advocacy alerts, social media, and writing and posting stories that further Physicians’ mission
  • Support all parts of the Physician organization, showcasing its physicians and spokespeople
  • Elevates Physicians voice and leadership in the reproductive health, rights, and justice movement
  • Explores innovative ways to engage new audiences to read, share, and submit to our Storytelling Project, Voices of Courage
  • Tracks, measures, analyzes, and optimizes to continually improve the usability, content, engagement, and effectiveness of digital communications including newsletters, blogs, email appeals, advocacy alerts, social media, and website
  • Explores new technology options on a regular basis to find new and innovative ways to reach and engage our members and supporters
  • Manages and helps craft Physicians’ social media strategy, profiles, voice, and presence
  • Works with Engagement Team to increase membership bases (supporters, donors, physician members) and retain active members

Media relations and support to all Physicians’ programs

  • Working with all program staff to identify opportunities for posts, blog entries, website content, and other digital communications that showcase our work, programs, events, advocacy efforts, our supporters, doctors, medical director, LTA fellows, and alumni
  • Develops and manages online program centers and any associated brand extensions/content including apps, video, audio, advocacy platforms, and webinars
  • Ensures resource hub and training list-servs are strategically incorporated in digital strategies
  • Works with the Public Policy and Community Support division to optimize advocacy alerts and maximize involvement and donations
  • Capitalizes on political environment to effect positive changes through fundraising and awareness


  • Manages and updates Voice and Engagement asset library
  • Updates the website as necessary, and acts as liaison between Physicians and website developer to keep technology up to date
  • Creates digital marketing effectiveness reports


  • 3-6 years of experience managing and creating digital content, preferably for a non-profit seeking to create change and motivate and engage supporters
  • Knowledge of the reproductive health, rights and justice movement preferred
  • Creative/inventive thinker
  • Excellent writing skills including copy editing and proofreading
  • Social media expertise
  • Visual intelligence
  • Experience with SEM/SEO strategies and digital marketing tools (e.g., Hootsuite)
  • Experience working with analytics programs (e.g. Google Analytics) and interpreting, presenting, and applying data
  • Experience working in WordPress—front-end development skills a plus
  • Experience with digital advocacy platforms
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Comfortable with telework technologies
  • Ability to represent Physicians at external meetings and conferences
