Our Fire Protection Lab is seeking a Laboratory Assistant!

If you are seeking an opportunity to work in a hands-on environment, enhance trade skill knowledge, and have a team oriented mindset, this is the opportunity for you! As a Senior Laboratory Assistant you will help with building sets for testing's, examine results, and work close with our Engineers and other Lab members to ensure efficiency and our common goal; ensuring a safer world! You can also expect the following:

Under direct supervision, assists laboratory staff in conducting investigations by assemblingtest setups, recording test data, conducting tests, and assembling and disassemblingproducts, materials and equipment.

  • Assists in building and/or adapting setup and test equipment to new situations, as directed.
  • Assists in performing tests using general laboratory equipment.
  • Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area.
  • Operates a computer to extract/input readily available information and to use available software.
  • Examines test samples, reads measuring instruments and reviews test data with supervisor and designated staff.
  • Operates designated laboratory equipment and tools as directed.
  • Receives instructions and reports data to supervisor and personnel in engineering and laboratory operations as needed.
  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
  • Performs other duties as directed.


  • Higher Secondary Education plus three years related experience required.
  • Experience with hand tools, carpentry/construction work
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs assisted and unassisted.
