Become a Meter Electrician Technician 1A at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better
tomorrow. In this job, you’ll Repair, Test, and Calibrate all types and classes of Single Phase and non
IDR (interval data recording) Polyphase Meters in our Meter Acceptance Shop and in the field. You will
also inspect internal/external connections and test for continuity and grounds.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!
- Inspects/validates mechanical, electrical, electronic, and communication components.
- Cleans reconditions, repairs, or replaces defective parts.
- Verifies register ratios and meter constants.
- Uses test instruments to perform testing and evaluation of associated metering equipment and load survey devices.
- Tests insulation of meters and associated metering equipment, such as, but not limited to test switches, phasing transformers, and load survey devices at high potential.
- Performs meter tests using various types of tests and computes meter error.
- Adjusts as needed to bring accuracy within prescribed limits.
- Checks, verifies, and updates meter nameplate data and meter programs.
- Records test results in SCE systems.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience fixing mechanical, electrical, or electronic equipment.
- Possess a current valid Driver’s License.
The preferred
- Electronics or Electrical engineering degree or certification and/or education in Electrical Theory
- Experience as a commercial/residential electrician or electrical construction.
- Working with power tools and hand tools (e.g., socket wrenches, screwdrivers, splicer, wire cutter, etc.)
- Bending and lifting of assets up to 50 lbs.
- Mathematical computations and algebra calculations to check, verify, and update data.
- Tabulating test results and performing computations for statistical analysis from testing data.
- Testing and repairing Single Phase and Polyphase Meters associated metering equipment and load survey devices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interface customers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Candidates who have previously passed these assessment(s), in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
