Required Related Experience

2 – 3 years of Inpatient Hospital Experience preferred.



Required License/Registration/Certification

Licensed Pharmacist or License Eligible in Kentucky.



Physical Requirements

May require standing or sitting for > 5 hrs at a time.



Shift

Varies – 7 days/week – provides coverage for days off and vacation leaves; Shifts vary based on department need.



Job Summary

In this position the candidate will provide pharmaceutical care to patients admitted to the UK HealthCare Good Samaritan Hospital. Responsibilities include: reviewing and perfecting medication orders, reviewing drug profiles to ensure appropriateness of therapy and contacting and conferring with physicians and other practitioners to optimize medication therapy. Actively participating in all aspects of the medication reconciliation process and promotion of economically conscientious use of medication. Daily activities may include active participation on patient care rounds, review of patient profiles, and provision of pharmacokinetic evaluation of therapeutic regimens.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Knowledge of inpatient hospital pharmacy practice; Strong clinical skills; Ability to prioritize.

Preferred Education/Experience

PGY1 residency preferred; or equivalent 2 – 3 years for Inpatient Hospital Experience highly preferred.
