Required Related Experience

Required License/Registration/Certification

Nationally certified Pharmacy Technician by either PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT); Registered with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire.



Physical Requirements

May include standing for greater than 5 hours at a time and possibly walking several miles per day. May require the ability to reach items above shoulder level and be able to lift up to 25 pounds.



Shift

Monday- Friday shift varies from 0800 – 16:30; weekends and holiday per departmental needs



Job Summary

Assists pharmacists in providing medications to patients in an inpatient hospital and outpatient infusion setting. Prepares and compounds individual patient doses, primarily sterile hazardous and non-hazardous IV medications for adult and pediatric populations in accordance with current USP guidelines. Maintains a sterile work environment with specified cleaning procedures. Assists pharmacist and other technicians with inventory management of materials and medications. Additionally, this position will assist in administrative duties that may include overseeing training of new employees, creating training schedules, developing area specific training programs and materials, and creating and maintaining operational processes and SOPs.

This position requires dependability and the ability to prioritize. The successful candidate must be reliable and demonstrate excellent attention to detail.

Preferred Education/Experience

Associate or bachelor’s degree and hospital and/or retail pharmacy technician experience preferred.
