Compensation

The base hourly rate for this position is $31.91.

Position Overview: 

The Plant Support/Controls Technician works as part of the Controls department under the general supervision of the Senior Electrical Controls Engineer.  This position works alone or with others to develop and maintain regulatory standards for electrical/controls compliance, electrical software, and electrical drawings.  In addition, this person serves as a liaison to IT providing problem-solving, technical assistance, and support coordination with JM IT. This position provides leadership, assistance, and training to identify and implement programs to achieve regulatory compliance and company goals.

Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)

  • Execute project implementation
  • Troubleshoot and correct operational issues
  • Provide on-call support to plant operations for electrical and controls issues
  • Provide support to processes controlled by Rockwell Automation devices
  • Execute process control changes on PLC systems
  • Manage Allen-Bradley equipment firmware compatibility and upgrades to include PLC’s, VFD’s, and associated equipment
  • Manage electrical/controls projects
  • Manage electrical equipment backups including PLC’s, VFD’s, and communication protocol networks to include ProfiNet, Remote I/O, and EthernetIP
  • Manage electrical predictive maintenance processes
  • Support the Maintenance & Engineering team as needed
  • Administer and maintain plant process camera systems
  • Support/Maintain plant floor systems
  • Supports the plant in a multifaceted work environment

Requirements: (education, skills, and abilities)

  • High School diploma is required
  • Post-secondary education related to automation /electrical engineering, information technologies, or computer science is preferred
  • Working knowledge of AB SLC500 and ControlLogix platforms
  • AB PowerFlex VFD and Kinetix 5700 servo troubleshooting experience
  • Working knowledge of HMI systems such as FactoryTalk SE/ME, and Panelview
  • Experience with software such as RSLogix 500,Studio 5000, and RSLinx
  • Design software such as AutoCAD, and AutoCAD Electrical
  • Understand industrial networking and electrical control system concepts (120VAC/24VDC)
  • Develop capital project justification, budgeting, and equipment specifications
  • Ability to train other skilled trade individuals
  • Ability to operate hand tools, install components and other peripheral accessories
  • Must be able to read/understand electrical schematics and engineering drawings
  • Must be self-directed and able to work with little or no direct oversight
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Basic data analysis skills and fundamental knowledge of root cause analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build relationships with other departments to facilitate completion of work.
  • Work environment is typical of a manufacturing facility (may be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.).
