Job Description

Pay Rate: $110000 to $150000 Per Year

Compensation will depend on the depth of candidate experience, plus an Annual Incentive Bonus, payable the following year, based on personal and company performance.

Position Purpose:

Position will range from Tax Analyst to Tax Manager depending on the candidate's experience. The primary focus of this role is to support the Tax Director and Sr. Tax Manager on all aspects of domestic income tax provision, compliance, financial and regulatory reporting, and financial planning and analysis for VNA's regulated utility business ("REG"). In addition, the role will focus on managing the use tax process for REG. The candidate should be organized, analytical and capable of working independently based on the needs and supervision of the tax team and Tax Director. The candidate is a team player who possesses strong excel skills and can employ his/her abilities to the use of various software and/or other technology and systems.

This role is a Hybrid role, three days a week ONSITE in Paramus.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Supporting monthly close process through preparation of the Company's GAAP and IFRS income tax provision and recording of journal entries and other related schedules and analyses.
  • Supporting federal and state income tax compliance and provision process.
  • Preparation and support of Company's tax provision and related disclosures for annual GAAP and IFRS financial statement audits.
  • Managing the Company's sales and use tax compliance process by working closely with internal and external resources.
  • Facilitating the sales and use tax process through utilizing the Company's sales and use tax engine (ONESOURCE IDT).
  • Researching sales and use tax issues and responding to internal inquiries regarding taxability of vendors which includes providing exemption certificates.
  • Interpreting and complying with federal, state, and local statutes, regulations, and legislation.
  • Preparing for and assisting with income tax and/or sales and use tax audits.
  • Preparing account reconciliations of tax general ledger accounts including the use of Blackline.
  • Assisting with implementing process improvements.


Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other four year degree with equivalent accounting experience.
  • CPA, MBA or Masters in Tax with accounting experience (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Minimum of two to five years of accounting and/or corporate tax experience.
  • Good analytical skills, detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Some experience with process improvement, change management and/or optimization of various tax processes.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to meet deliverables independently and as a team player within time constraints.
  • Exhibit flexibility, creativity and initiative in providing solutions.
  • Strong computer technical skills - Proficiency in MS Excel and various tax software experience preferred.
  • Experience with ONESOURCE Tax Provision (OTP) and ONESOURCE Income Tax Software or similar applications.
  • Experience with ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination.
  • Business professional presentation skills (PowerPoint).
  • Business and tax memoranda writing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills & attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills - both oral and written.
  • Team-player, customer-centric attitude.
