Minimum Education and/or Professional Qualifications/Skills
- Required: Provisional or Permanent teaching certification in an academic core area and/or in special education.
- Preferred: Masters Degree in a core academic area. Initial or professional certification in an academic core area and/or in special education.
- Experience with “at-risk” emotionally disturbed and/or learning disabled students preferred but not required.
- New regulations under the No Child Left Behind Act effective February 2004 must be obtained to get New York State certification (see New York State Department of Education website under Teacher Certification).

Title of Immediate Supervisor:Principal
POSITION SUMMARY:To direct the academic, social, and emotional growth of students so that each student progresses toward thegoals and objectives outlined in both the Individual Education Plan and the Service Plan.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
1. Direct student behavior and activities so that the accomplishment of goals is facilitated.
2. Create a learning climate that is conducive to the student’s intellectual, social, and emotional development.
3. Maintain records of student progress. Ensure that every student receives credit for work accomplished.
4. Participate in projecting future educational needs in programming, equipment, and facilities.
5. Work with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects.
6. Provide information that will assist in the development of appropriate learning experiences.
7. Develop instructional materials.
8. Assist students in the use of available resources.
9. Supervise students as they move between instructional areas.
10. Develop an educational plan for each student, providing for continuity in learning, as well as maximizing each student’s learningpotential.
11. Communicate with parents/guardians on a bi-weekly basis.
12. Record student daily color on force field.
13. Attend meetings for advised students (CSE, SPR).
14. Provide supervision in hallways, or lunchroom when necessary.
15. Provide in-depth academic and sociological reports about students at CSE meetings.
16. Supervise Teacher’s Aide assigned to his/her classroom.
17. Follow weekly meeting schedule, attending team and content meetings.
18. Update cottage notes daily.
19. Maintain valid NYS certification.
20. Support Campus School wide PBIS program.
21. Maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and First Aid/CPR certification provided by the agency.
22. Attend all mandatory in-service training and regularly attends supervision meetings. Attends other training and in-services as neededto maintain a level of expertise in the field.
23. Any additional duties assigned by immediate supervisor.
