This faculty position will teach class piano, keyboard skills classes, and possibly private lessons and may also be asked to teach other courses or coach ensembles, depending on experience and departmental needs. Responsibilities also include recruitment and may include attendance at departmental studio hour and instrumental seminar, as needed, on Thursdays from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official duties and responsibilities of part-time faculty members at the University include teaching and professional activities as assigned. Essential Functions Basic Instructional Duties: <ol> <li>Prepare course outlines and teach based on approved departmental syllabi; prepare and deliver consistent, interactive lectures.</li> <li>Prepare and execute timely and meaningful assessments for assigned courses. </li> <li>Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure standard curriculum outcomes are met.</li> <li>Be available outside of class to help students learn as well as answer their questions (1 hour per 3-hour class, physically and/or electronically). </li> <li>Adhere to UIW Faculty Handbook policies and processes including timely record keeping of student activities, fair and equitable evaluation of student performance, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance in the course. </li> <li>Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students both in and outside the classroom.</li> <li>Maintain contact with the department chair and participate in meetings upon request. </li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li> </ol> Job Duties Knowledge Skills and Abilities <ul> <li>Must be able to teach piano/keyboard skills at all levels, from beginner to advanced;</li> <li>Ability to deliver instruction both in person and/or online as needed;</li> <li>Ability to effectively learn, use, and incorporate instructional technology into teaching;</li> <li>Willingness and flexibility to teach day, evening and weekend sections as needed;</li> <li>Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;</li> <li>Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.</li> </ul> Required Education Master's Degree in Piano or Piano Pedagogy. Required Work Experience <ul> <li>Two (2) years of experience teaching class piano, private students, and/or other group keyboard classes.</li> <li>Evidence of significant performing experience on piano.</li> </ul> Preferred Qualifications <ul> <li>Doctoral degree in Piano Performance or related field.</li> <li>College/university-level teaching experience.</li> </ul> Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations None specified.
