The Colleague Services (CS) organization within the Colleague Experience Group (also known as Human Resources) at American Express plays a critical role in providing the best-in-class services, capabilities, data, and insights that enable a great colleague experience. The organization builds and evolves crucial products and services to enable the Colleague Experience Group (CEG) and the business. The CS organization handles the ecosystem of CEG products, processes, platforms, applications, third party partners, colleague insights and reporting, and colleague-related risk, compliance, and governance.

We are seeking a colleague with strong quantitative statistics training and a passion for data-backed decisions. This role will require the successful candidate to address intellectual challenges and innovate to establish the future of Colleague Insights Data Science team primarily focusing on colleague scorecard, employee retention, collaboration, inclusion & diversity metrics, and key talent.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Gather, sanitize, and preprocess extensive datasets from various sources, and perform exploratory data analysis.
  • Develop predictive modeling that will enable colleague retention and growing diverse representation.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports and visualizations to communicate key findings and insights to stakeholders to enable data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills; including the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to comprehend business challenges and generate data-driven solutions.
  • Support ad-hoc analysis requests and special projects as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability with addressing evolving business needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or related analytical field
  • 1-2 years of experience using quantitative analysis and statistical modelling
  • Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using SQL, Python, R or the equivalent
  • Understanding of statistical and experimentation concepts such as distributions, regression, confidence, correlation, significance, P-value, T-tests, etc
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, matplotlib, etc.), with strong ability to communicate complex findings effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience using analytics to solve business problems in complex organizations
  • Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence, Expertise in Coding, Supervised and Unsupervised Techniques
  • People Analytics experience /HR data
  • 2+ years of programming experience in Python, R, SQL, Hive
  • 2+ years of experience in Tableau, Power BI
  • Proven experience communicating results to technical and non-technical audience

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
